From the Director
Our community partners are often impressed by what is offered by The Family Center. Recently, an official from a large local hospital commented that we offer services in a “full-circle way,” that The Family Center is an “amazing 360 organization.” She said that we cover all the bases in attempting to connect families with professional resources in so many ways: through our presentations and programs, with weekly articles in our Ask the Experts column in the Grosse Pointe News, with the website, the newsletter and with the Association of Professionals.
Wow! It’s great when feedback like that validates our efforts. That’s exactly what we are trying to do: serve as the community’s hub of information, resources and referral for both parents and professionals. Our goal is to be a 360 organization that offers access to services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year!
Here’s all the ways you can interact with The Family Center:
ATTEND: presentations on a variety of topics from birth through adulthood, transitions and trends.
CONNECT: interact with local, accessible experts through our presentations, articles and Association of Professionals. Meet other parents at Play Central.
READ: articles in our Ask the Experts column in the Grosse Pointe News and also on our website.
LEARN: visit our website to view an extensive calendar of programs offered by The Family Center and other community partners.
VIEW: videos of presentations on our website, along with resource materials like PowerPoints and PDFs.
Our 2013 programming will feature some new offerings: In March, a four-week series for mothers and daughters and two new presentations in April, one for discovering and accessing resources for different learners and another on taking care while giving care.
The Family Center strives to accomplish its annual goals by responding to requests for information on timely topics. It continues to serve as an accessible resource, connecting and enriching the lives of parents, caregivers and families so they may raise healthy, resilient, successful children in our community and beyond!
