The award-winning Family Center celebrated 15 years of service in 2015. Ask the Experts Talks, Articles and Videos reached a wide audience; familycenterweb.org provided one million page views in the past 12 months; and nearly 100 Association of Professionals members formed a valuable referral network.
Whether caring for newborns, young children, teens, loved ones, elderly parents or yourself, The Family Center serves as a compass to guide you to the resources needed when navigating life’s challenges.
Our Association of Professionals – a carefully vetted list of practitioners, organizations and businesses – allows us to connect people with many of the best experts available in times of need or crisis.
Through our Ask the Experts Talks, we are able to provide advice and guidance in supportive group settings. Highlights from our 2015 talks included Top 10 Mistakes Parents Make with Baby’s Sleep; Touched by Cancer – Now What?; Tween Tech: Helping Kids Understand the Impacts of Their Online Presence; Mindful Living; and Senior Gems: Understanding the Stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Our commitment to families continues in 2016. We are especially proud to be hosting author and veteran journalist Sam Quinones on March 15 for a frank discussion on the heartbreaking epidemic of drug use in America. Quinones’ book Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic, has been named among Amazon’s Best Nonfiction Books of 2015. We will also offer talks related to aging parents, pediatric medical moments, grief recovery and more.
The Family Center also offers resources including weekly Ask the Experts Articles in the Grosse Pointe News and on familycenterweb.org. Topics are wide-reaching and the experts represent a variety of professions. The website is a valuable tool offering a wealth of information and serves as a source of confidential support. Ask the Experts Videos covering a variety of subjects can be viewed on YouTube and the Grosse Pointe War Memorial’s WMTV community television station.
The Family Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is 100% supported by community contributions. Thanks to a dedicated community and donors like you, we offer all of our services to the public free of charge. However, our programs cannot continue without your support. Please consider giving a tax-deductible donation today so that The Family Center can continue to provide vital resources for 15 more years and beyond!
Your investment and engagement in our mission is valued!
