Teepa Snow is an enlightening, witty, entertaining, and energetic speaker who can accurately demonstrate the struggle and challenges dementia creates for all parties involved. Teepa presented the many areas of the brain affected by dementia and provided skills and strategies for better ways to care. This Family Center Ask the Experts Talk was presented in partnership with Senior Helpers, The War Memorial, Grosse Pointe News, Pointe Magazine and ShorePointe Village. The Relentless Tour with Anthony Ianni is a first of its kind GRASS ROOTS initiative designed to help eradicate bullying across the state of Michigan and beyond. Bullying is something that affects everyone in one form or another. Additionally, individuals with autism are one of the highest targeted groups to be the victims of a bully with numbers ranging from 65-90% and it has to be stopped. Anthony Ianni is one of the most sought after anti-bullying motivational speakers in the region. An anti-bullying initiative of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Held at Assumption Cultural Center on August 2, 2016.

The Family Center’s 15th Anniversary Benefit at the Historic Charles Lambert House – June 2, 2016. Attendees toured this Grosse Pointe Farms gem with its French manor house architecture, unique Pewabic tile features and beautiful gardens. They enjoyed an evening of strolling dining by renowned Chef Bobby Nahra.

The author of three books of narrative non-fiction, Sam Quinones discussed his latest work, Dreamland, a scathing and incendiary account of drug culture and addiction spreading to every part of the American landscape. The talk was followed by an interview session with Devin Scillian, WDIV Anchor, in addition to a book signing by the author.
