From the Director
The Family Center will soon celebrate 12 years of service to your community. Families, caregivers and professionals welcome our programs that enable local experts to share their wisdom and reach people in need of education or guidance.
This ability to create connections with local experts is one of the great strengths of our nonprofit organization. Many of the professionals that author our Ask the Experts articles and speak at our presentations are easily reachable through our Association of Professionals online directory.
During just the past seven years we have hosted local presentations and also published hundreds of Ask the Experts articles in our weekly Grosse Pointe News features column. Every article is also posted, archived and searchable on www.familycenterweb.org.
The Ask the Experts articles and Association of Professionals directory are proving to be a valuable online resource, accessible to our community and beyond. Recently, our Web site analytics noted that overall site visits were up over 25% from last year. The Association of Professionals category was responsible for a big part of that increase.
Our top 10 most popular articles were accessed by over 20,000 unique visitors. “Coping with Your Enmeshed Family” by Marla Ruhana, LMSW led the way. A video of the presentation “Face-Time vs. Facebook” by Sean-Hogan Downey has been the all-time most-visited presentations page with over 12,000 views since May 2010.
All this demand is heartening. It means that The Family Center is valued by our community — a community of families who strive to do the best for their children. We’ll keep bringing new content to the Web site, to the Grosse Pointe News and through local presentations. But to do this, our efforts to secure funding from our community must be active and ongoing.
Every day, we strive to keep enriching the lives of families with educational resources and programs. Please consider a gift to support the work of The Family Center. As always, your gift is fully tax-deductible. Working together, we make a difference — enriching the lives of healthy families in our community.
