May 22, 2019, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Christ Church Grosse Pointe
61 Grosse Pointe Blvd., Grosse Pointe Farms

Language is the foundation of learning. Development of language occurs in the pivotal years between birth and 5 years of age. The role parents and caregivers play during this time is monumental. However, in today’s busy world many distractions exist, especially with digital media making it easier for a child to find a partner in a screen rather than in another person. How can parents and caregivers avoid this temptation and reclaim their important role as their child’s main language partner? This interactive style presentation will cover how to use children’s books and everyday activities to build meaningful and engaging language interactions with children. Practical strategies will be presented. Featuring Dorothy Heitjan and Kristen DeVooght, Grosse Pointe Public Schools
