HONORING THE FAMILY CENTER OF GROSSE POINTE and HARPER WOODS
Celebrating 10 Years of Commitment to Community Families
WHEREAS, It is with a spirit of pride that the Wayne County Commission recognizes THE FAMILY CENTER of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods as it celebrates 10 years of being the “go-to” resource for parents, caregivers and professionals who want to raise children in today’s busy world in the best way possible; and
WHEREAS, The mission of THE FAMILY CENTER is to promote a deeper understanding of the role of parents and others in supporting our youth to become competent, caring and responsible community members. To that end, THE FAMILY CENTER has been providing a variety of educational topics on a consistent basis: childhood growth and development; behavioral issues; school transitions; youth trends; parenting strategies; family dynamics; current health concerns; communications skills; and more; and
WHEREAS, THE FAMILY CENTER serves as a centralized hub that links families and professionals with resources that promote growth. An online directory helps parents and others to quickly and confidentially connect with local mental health and health practitioners, legal experts, and specialized services providers that strive to be the best in their field; and
WHEREAS, Since 2000, THE FAMILY CENTER has grown as an independent nonprofit organization founded by concerned parents and community leaders, touching and benefiting an untold number of families since its beginnings 10 years ago. It continues to thrive today, supported by the generosity of community donors who are committed to helping THE FAMILY CENTER continue its mission; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Wayne County Commission salutes and congratulates THE FAMILY CENTER for a decade of impacting the Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods communities in a positive fashion, helping to keep families together, and for its commitment to our children and youth. May this resolution stand as an example and a monument of inspiration for future generations to come.
